The Faith of a Mustard Seed

Yes, that's right. A mustard seed. I've done some posts about college or a trip I've taken, but it wouldn't be right if I didn't include a blog about my faith.

I'm a Christian and I'm proud of it. No, it doesn't mean I'm perfect (in fact, I'm far from it), but I do have hope because of my faith. Hope that I will have an eternal life with Jesus and will be praising God forever.

A lot of people think badly of Christianity or often have mixed feelings of what it's like to be a Christian. We often get the bad rap of being 'hypocrites' or something like that. I can't form any opinion for you, but I can tell you about my beliefs, and you can take what you want from this.

I'm a Christian because Jesus, my Savior, died on a cross over 2,000 years ago so I could have a chance not only to live the life I'm living now, but so I can live eternally with Him. Did I deserve it? No. Absolutely not. But do I learn from Jesus' example and live like He did? Yes, I do.

Some people may ask why I would be living for someone who died ages ago. But there's another catch to this awesome story of Jesus: He is risen! Jesus rose from the grave and ascended into Heaven, and will one day return to take us all home. To me, it's one of the most encouraging and exciting aspects of being a Christian, but to others it just seems odd.

I believe in God not because of what people have told me, or what I've heard. I believe in God because I've seen Him and have experienced Him in my life. There are certain things you just cannot ignore, and I couldn't ignore the massiveness of His presence in this world. Seeing everything He does in my life, as well as the lives of others around me, makes me believe in His goodness, power, and mercy all the more.

He made this entire universe! Everything that is here today is because God fashioned it to be so. How incredible is that? To me, it's so amazing to think of everything God has made, because it means He's made us too.

How cool is it that the God of the entire universe looked at all He made and decided the world needed a Haylee Fowler? That He needed one of you! It blows my mind! It proves we are special, and we are here for a purpose.

There are so many lessons to learn from faith, from the Bible, and from what God teaches us. I learn something new every single day. The thing about faith is that it isn't a one time thing. You can't just say you're a Christian and then continue living like you always did. Being a Christian, committing your life to God, and living the way He has told you to, is a completely set apart lifestyle. We are special and unique because God has made us to be so. But it has to be something we choose constantly, on a daily basis. I grow more and more every single day, and I can't even tell any of you how much my faith has grown even in the last two months!

Now saying all this doesn't mean I don't falter. I do fall nearly on a day to day basis (and not just because I'm clumsy), because I do sin and there's sin in the world. I'm in no way perfect, and I will never be, but striving to live the life Jesus did draws me closer to the only being in this entire cosmos who is perfect: God.

This is only a small portion of my faith. I could go on and on and on about why I'm a Christian, all the experiences I've had in my life, and why I believe in a risen Savior. But I'll leave this inkling here for today, just as a small insight into the enormity that is God's Word.

If you have any thoughts or comments on what I've said, feel free to let me know. There will be more posts in the future going deep into my faith, lessons I've learned and taught, and things I will continue to grow in for a better tomorrow.

Have a blessed day y'all!
