Stress
This picture basically describes my life right about now.
The end of the semester is here and only finals are left, which is also why there hasn't been a blog post for a few weeks. It has been a rough few weeks. Ever since Thanksgiving ended, our professors have laid on us so many assignments, papers, and projects to finish in only 3 weeks. That may seem like a lot of time, but it is not.
I've gotten very little sleep over the past week and a half, and my bank account has suffered (sorry Mom and Dad) from eating out because I have no food but I don't want to buy more food. You know...because I'm about to leave for break. So I'm hungry, sleep-deprived, and running off of coffee and fumes at this point.
Sounds so great right?
Well it actually is, because everything I'm doing is for a purpose. Yes, I'm stressed as all get out right now, but once finals are over and I get my grades back, it'll all be worth it.
I don't really make college sound that great. Yikes. It really is though. Finals week and the weeks before finals are the worst part. And that's only because everyone is stressed, tired, and trying to find the will to finish a rough semester. This fall semester has been rough on me and all of my friends, and it's a mutual consensus that this semester has just sucked. So we're all fighting to finish just so we can get this one over with.
I have a feeling a lot of people can relate to me with this whole stress thing though. Everyone is stressed at this time of year, especially those in college. But there's also some cool things you can do to help alleviate the stress:
1. Watch a movie. Yes, it sounds so cliche or obvious, but when you're just going and going and going, making yourself sit down for an hour or two really isn't a bad idea, and it helps you to relax for a little bit and get your mind off things. Disney movies are great to watch during this time, or even some comedy. Being able to laugh or sing a long with something is always very stress relieving.
2. Talk to people. Ew, I'm saying you have to be social? Well yeah, I am. I don't always like to be social either, but at times it can really help. Even as an introvert, I enjoy being able to talk to people sometimes to distract myself from all my work and to reattach myself to the world my friends are in. It's really nice to be able to wind down with friends and talk about literally anything but the work you have to do.
3. Listen to instrumental music. Instrumental? You mean the one without someone singing? Yes. That's exactly what I mean. I'm not saying to go listen to Mozart or Beethoven or anything like that, but if you like those things, by all means listen to those awesome tracks. There are plenty of instrumental pieces that aren't slow or "opera" as a lot of them are associated to be. You can listen to contemporary music without words and feel upbeat and excited about what you're doing. I love listening to artists like Future World Music. They have more of a rock vibe to them, and there are several bands similar to them. If you find your type of instrumental music, it can help give you something to listen to while you work while not getting insanely distracted.
So there are three ways to help alleviate stress. They may seem obvious or not even helpful, but they really are. These three have helped me out so much in college and it takes away stress whenever you sit still and watch a movie, talk to friends, or even work while playing some music. Personally the third is my favorite because I zone in on what I'm doing and get so much work done, making my stress leave me because of how accomplished I feel.
There's a little post about stress. It isn't long or anything, but I hope it helps all you stressed out people in the world. So wish me luck guys, I have finals coming up, and you can be sure I'll be stressing out about them for the next week.
See y'all later!
